Once upon a time I made a pneumatic rifle. It has an air reservoir about three feet long, 2 inches in diameter which feeds into a Rainbow lawn sprinkler watering system valve and then out to a barrel. Before the valve I have a PSI gauge. With this pneumatic rifle I have shot paint balls and fireworks. I'd been trying to think of a way to shoot nails but couldn't come up with anything rational. It then occurred to me to shoot the nails out the pneumatic rifle as sabot rounds. One nice sunny day a friend and I went out and proceeded to stick nails about one inch into a tree by rapping the nails in bits of paper towel. I later experimented shooting into ABS pipe with moderate results. While the nail made a hole, it also plugged it. The larger the mass of the nail, the more satisfactory the results.
